KELL Brook believes gym-mate Adam Etches will have no problem recording his ninth successive win on Saturday – thanks to some lucky boots and a spot of fishing.

Etches is scheduled to open up the huge Hatton Promotions “Road To Glory” card, which is headlined by the highly-anticipated Rendall Munroe v Scott Quigg super-bantamweight clash.

The 21-year-old will aim to stretch his unbeaten record against Hungarian foe Ferenc Zold, at the Manchester Velodrome.

Etches is good friends with Brook thanks to their time together at Sheffield’s famed Ingle gym, and the middleweight hopes to develop a reputation similar to his more illustrious stable mate by claiming a seventh career knockout.

Brook says his fellow talented Sheffield fighter should have few problems disposing of Zold (15-10) – especially with the gift of some new boots.

“I have had four fights in those boots that I have given him so I’ve told Adam that he’s got to keep the KO’s going,” said Brook, who is preparing for his July 7 clash against Carson Jones at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

“He is mature for his age and he trains really hard in the gym. I believe he could go far – he definitely has the power and, of course, his nickname is The Bomber.

“Our gym is the place for footwork and being with the Ingles has brought him on leaps and bounds. He is improving every day. His power is the key but he is starting to think more when he’s in the ring.  I see the improvement daily.”

Brook is adamant that the young prospect is showing his huge hunger in gym sessions, but also revealed the pair are happy to get away from the pressured environment to enjoy some time on the riverbank.

“This is the best I have seen him in the gym and he’s been determined to put it on me in training!” Brook told LincBoxing.

“He needs more experience and fights like Saturday’s will give him that.

“For this fight we have been doing a bit of fishing, to chill ourselves out.

“We have a good chat and a good fish, up in Chesterfield. It’s one of our big past-times. We talk about fishing instead of boxing 24 hours a day.

“But he knows I do him at fishing as well as boxing!”
