Three-time Olympic heavyweight champion Teofilo Stevenson has died – according to reports.

The Cuban, who was 60 when he passed away, was arguably one of the greatest ever fighters never to turn professional.

Stevenson scooped successive gold medals at Munich in 1972, Montreal in 1976 and in Moscow (1980).

A  bout against Muhammad Ali was touted following his success in Canada but the fight failed to happen.

Stevenson went on to coach the next generation of Cuban boxers before serving on the board of the Cuban Boxing Federation.
