Brian Rose tips Ryan Rhodes to edge past heavy hitting Sergey Rabchenko

Ryan Rhodes aims to regain his light-middleweight European title when he takes on hard-hitting Sergey Rabchenko in Manchester tonight.

But the 51-fight veteran, who has only five defeats to his name, will have his work cut out against the Belarusian – who boasts a perfect record of 20 wins from 20 fights.

Rabchenko has become renowned for having a deadly punch after knocking out 15 of his victims already.

Rhodes fought for the WBC light-middleweight title last summer, holding his own in a gutsy performance against Saul Alvarez in Mexico before being stopped in the final round of an exciting contest.

The 35-year-old has a sensational win over Jamie Moore on his record in 2009.

British light-middleweight champion and friend of Rhodes, Brian Rose, has tipped Rhodes to edge a thrilling contest.

“Rabchenko is knocking everyone out and he is a massive danger,” Rose told Lincboxing. “I just think Rhodes will have too much know-how and experience.

“I get on well with Ryan and I really hope he wins. He deserves another crack at a world title. He is a good guy and a hard worker.

“He just has to box smart and stay away from Rabchenko’s big shots.”
