Matt Goddard overcomes Dan Naylor challenge in London

Matt Goddard improved his record to 2-0 after having too much for durable journeyman Dan Naylor in London.

After an even start to the featherweight clash in Southwark, Naylor was wobbled by a big punch in the third.

The 25-year-old -who has now won one and lost 13 – recovered well before seeing out the four-round contest.

“The first two rounds went fine,” Naylor told Lincboxing. “He caught me in the third with a big shot and it wobbled me a bit.

“But I gritted it out until the end.

“Goddard is a strong lad but not all that skilful. But the lad can punch.

“If he didn’t catch me in the third, it could have been a different fight. In the end he was too big for me and he came in over the weight.”
