Tyson Fury learns little in TKO victory against overmatched Vinny Maddalone; wants Klitschkos and Adamek

TYSON Fury completed a lopsided victory over American Vinny Maddalone thanks to a fifth-round TKO as he moved closer to a clash against one of the Klitschko brothers.

Fury used his left jab to great effect against the outworked and outclassed Maddalone, with the shorter man struggling to deal with his opponents’s better reach.

In the WBO Intercontinental heavyweight bout, held in Clevedon, Somerset, Fury had caused an ugly cut under Maddalone’s left eye in the fourth before the referee stepped in during  the following round.

Following the contest, Fury, now 19-0, was once again asked about the prospect of facing either Vitali or Wladimir Klitschko with the latter completing another dominant title defence against Tony Thompson.

“I’m still undefeated,” Fury told broadcaster Channel 5 following the contest.

“I would like to say I’m ready for anyone in the world. Klitschkos: bring them on. Americans: bring them on.

“Bring on Tomasz Adamek. He’s too small for me and I see an early win.”

Considering Fury’s dominance over the far shorter Maddalone, a move against former light-heavyweight and ex-cruiserweight world titlist Adamek would represent a calculated risk.

However, the US-based Pole must overcome the challenge of faded former champion James Toney in a bout in Newark, New Jersey on September 8, first.
